The Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative was launched in June 2002. It runs biennially and is currently in its sixth cycle (2012-2013). Its objective is to help perpetuate the world’s artistic heritage to make a contribution to global culture. In keeping with its tradition of supporting individual excellence, Rolex is giving emerging artists and architects time to learn, create and grow. It includes the following disciplines: Film, Theatre, Literature, Art, Music, Dance, Visual Arts, and since 2012, Architecture. This edition’s mentor for the architecture discipline will be the architect Kazuyo Sejima.
