STAR is working on a Study about Intervention in UNESCO World Heritage Sites

September, 2009

STAR is working on a study about interventions within and near World Heritage Sites.
In July 2009, STAR won the competition for Mirador del Palmeral located in the buffer zone of Elche’s Palm Grove – Palmeral – declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000. The difficulty of intervening in a protected area, the large gaps within the preservation rules and the enormous political and social interest around the concept of World Heritage made it urgently necessary for the office to start a study of preservation.
